Along the way, she meets Tabitha Cat, and soon they find jobs -- and food! -- at Mr Gnome's guesthouse. This beautifully written and illustrated book was the first book of acclaimed children's author Shirley Barber to be published, way back in the late 1970s, and remains a much loved book of which modern editions are still in print today. This book was also awarded a special mention at the Critici in Erba Children's Book Awards at the Bologna Children's Book Fair soon after it was first published. It is the first in the Martha B. Rabbit series.
